In accordance with the High Seas Fishing Licensing Regulation, all registered Belize flagged vessels engaged in fishing or related activities shall be required to obtain a High Seas Fishing License.
An application for a license shall be made by the vessel’s resident agent or legal representative in accordance with Section 6(1) of the Regulation. An application for a license shall be accompanied by the following documents:

Types of Licenses AvailableLicenses are available for the following:
A license, unless earlier suspended or canceled, is valid for a period of one year from the date of issuance or such lesser period as may be determined and approved by the Director.
Renewal of LicensesThe application for renewal of any license must be filed by the vessel’s agent or representative at least 30 days before the expiry of the current license.
Automatic Termination of LicenseWhere the material circumstances of the licensed vessel change, including but not limited to a change of name, charter, operator, ownership, or gear, or where the vessel ceases to be registered with IMMARBE, the license shall automatically terminate.
Lost, Destroyed or Defaced LicensesWhere a license has been lost or destroyed, the licensee may make a written application to the Director for a duplicate license. A new license shall only be issued after due diligence has been carried out.
License FeesThe license fees can be obtained from the BHSFU at the time of request for registration of the vessel and are in accordance with the relevant fees prescribed in our regulations.
